Background
Savannah , her brother David and her mom Barbara came in to Haltom orthodontics after a recommendation from her general dentist. Savannah was 8 years old. After her Exam, Dr. Haltom informed her that she would benefit from orthodontic treatment but it was best to wait to start treatment. At 10 years old Dr Haltom saw that it was a perfect time to start Savannah’s treatment. Both Savannah and her mom were anxious to begin the journey.
Diagnosis
Savannah was suffering from moderate upper and lower crowding caused by narrow upper and lower arches. Her significant bite discrepancy was caused by a short lower jaw and lower teeth being further back than ideal.
Treatment Plan
Braces on upper 4 front teeth and expander and lip bumper to widen upper and lower arches. Lower braces at 4 months into treatment . headgear at night to take advantage of facial growth and correct bite. Rest of upper braces placed as permanent teeth erupt. Estimated treatment time was 24 months. Savannah was a perfect patient that excelled in all that we asked of her. Her treatment was completed in 26 months with a perfect result that will last her a lifetime. She loves to show off her new smile.
