Early Treatment
We encourage parents to schedule their child’s initial exam at age 7. In some cases, we will recommend early, interceptive treatment. With early treatment we can take the least invasive approach to address skeletal issues that, left unchecked, may require more invasive approaches in the future. However, in most cases, we actually don't recommend treatment until the child has all of his or her adult teeth.
If waiting for treatment is recommended, we’ll see your child once or twice a year to monitor their growth and assess their needs. These very important growth and development appointments are provided free of charge.
Options for Adolescents
Between the ages of 11 and 15 is the most common time for orthodontic treatment, and for good reasons. By 12, most, if not all, of the permanent teeth are in place, and crooked teeth, gaps and bad bites are highly visible. We can often take advantage of the remaining growth to make the necessary orthodontic corrections and create an exceptional smile for your child. Since many of their friends are in braces at the same time, most adolescents LOVE sharing the braces experience. After school visits at Haltom Orthodontics feel a lot like friends getting together with friends.
Options for Teens and Adults
Whether you choose metal or clear braces, hidden braces or Invisalign, at Haltom Orthodontics you’ll have the benefit of Personalized Smile Design. Like fingerprints, your smile is unique - and so is our computerized system that combines digital orthodontic treatment planning with our doctors' extensive experience.
Your smile should be more than just straight teeth. It should fit your face and consider how you look not only the day the braces come off but well into the future. While many orthodontists are concerned only about making sure your teeth fit together and some dentists are only concerned about how your teeth look, we believe in going the extra mile to make sure it functions properly and looks amazing.
INVISALIGN & Other Invisible Options
The Invisalign® System straightens your teeth without wires and brackets, using a series of clear, customized, removable aligners. It's virtually invisible, which means you can straighten your teeth without announcing it to the world. Invisalign moves your teeth in small steps to the desired final position. Each of your aligners is precisely customized to fit your mouth at each stage of the treatment plan. You switch to a new set of aligners every couple of weeks and only remove them to eat, brush and floss. Consider Invisalign to get the beautiful straight teeth you've always wanted – without braces. A complimentary consultation can determine if Invisalign is right for you.
"Hidden", or lingual braces are attached behind the teeth and are therefore "invisible" when you smile. They are 100% customized to match the shape of your teeth and have wires that are shaped specifically for your mouth. Lingual braces are a very aesthetic option for athletes, models, actors and actresses, musicians who play wind instruments, and adult professionals whose lifestyle would be affected by other treatment options.
Accelerated Treatment
While all of our treatment options are faster than traditional orthodontics, we’re now offering two incredible technologies to speed up your treatment - because our priority isn’t to get you INTO braces, we want to get you OUT of braces with the best result - in the least amount of time.
We can add Acceledent and Propel to your treatment regardless of the type of treatment you choose. You use Acceledent for 20 minutes a day and its gentle micro-pulses (vibrations) stimulate the bones in your jaw so that your teeth move into the desired position up to 40% faster. It’s comfortable and easy to use.
With Propel, a quick in-office procedure jump-starts tooth movement and can be used on one or two stubborn teeth or for your entire smile. Ask us how it works when you schedule your complimentary, initial consultation.
Alexander LTS System
Think of it this way . . . just about anyone can fly a plane, but landing one is a different story. The same could be said for orthodontics. Moving teeth isn't complicated, but proper alignment and a bite that fits and functions well is what separates orthodontists from their peers and makes them specialists.
The Alexander LTS System uses biologically compatible forces, but does so without compromising control. It's complicated, but our doctors make it look easy. The result is rapid tooth movement and a fantastic finish - in minimal time.
Both Drs. have lectured on this technique. Haltom Orthodontics has been practicing the Alexander Discipline for 37 years & have treated more cases with this technique than anyone in the world.
